Blankspace is a different kind of student community.
No hierarchy. No faculty oversight. Just pure, unadulterated creation.
It started with a
WhatsApp Group.
In 2022, Adhil Salim had a simple idea: a place where students could build things without waiting for permission. No formalities, no red tape.
It began as a handful of friends in a group chat. Fewer than 10 people. We wanted to work on projects that mattered to us, not just what the syllabus dictated.
The name "Blankspace" was coined by Alan Thomas Shaji. The lowercase 's' isn't a typo—it represents our mission to fill the void, the "blank spaces" in our traditional education, with creativity and practical skills.
We later merged with Conelce, expanding our family and our vision. Today, we stand 900+ members strong.
Founding
Born from the 2021-25 CSE Batch, inspired by the need for independent creation.
The First Mentor
Prof. Jayakrishna V (JK) joined as our first faculty advisor, adding guidance without compromising our independence.
Scaling Up
Prof. Ashwin Nandakumar joined as new faculty advisor. Community grew to 900+ members and 16 Core Team members.
Our Philosophy
We broke the mold of traditional college clubs to build something that actually works for students.
Zero Hierarchy
We don't have presidents or secretaries. Roles are fluid. You lead by doing, not by title.
Student Run
While we respect our faculty advisors, the decisions, execution, and vision are 100% student-driven.
Open to All
CSE, ECE, Mech, Art, Design? Doesn't matter. If you have the passion, you have a place.
